Title Tuesday #7: NXT Championship

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am your host, the Baumeister.  For many of us, we judge how good a wrestler’s legacy is based on how many titles they have, or haven’t won in their careers.  But, what about the heritage of those titles? That’s where we are going to look at here.  Not just who won the championship, where they won and how long they held it, but also interesting information unique to that championship’s history.

This week’s featured championship: NXT Championship

  3. Bo Dallas: Won May 23, 2013 at NXT #52 in Winter Park, FL. Held the title for 280 days.
    1. Match aired June 12, 2013
  4. (Adrian) Neville: Won February 27, 2014 at NXT Arrival in Winter Park, FL. Held the title for 287 days.
    1. Title was defended in a ladder match.
    2. Holds the record for the longest reign.
    3. First champion to have a main roster championship defense vs Tyler Breeze in a Dark Match before Smackdown #779 July 22, 2014 in Orlando, FL.
  5. Sami Zayn: Won December 11, 2014 at NXT TakeOver: (R)Evolution in Winter Park, FL. Held the title for 62 days.
    1. Holds the record for the shortest reign.
  6. Kevin Owens: Won February 11, 2015 at NXT TakeOver: Rival in Winter Park, FL.  Held the title for 143 days.
    1. First champion to defend the title on the air for a main roster broadcast vs Zack Ryder on Smackdown #824 in Houston, TX.
  7. Finn Balor: Won July 4, 2015 at WWE Live in Tokyo: The Beast in the East in Tokyo, Japan. Held the title for 237 days.
    1. First title change outside of the United States.
    2. First title defense in the United Kingdom vs Samoa Joe December 16, 2015 at NXT TakeOver: London in London, England
