The Baumeister Previews: NXT Takeover: Back 2 Brooklyn

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another Preview of a WWE/NXT Network Special.  This time:

There’s six matches on the card to get into, so let’s dive right on in, shall we?

Wow.  This is probably the match I’m least excited for.  And it really doesn’t have anything to do with either one of the ladies in the ring.  There’s just no build-up for the match.  Seriously.  Billie Kay asked for a match on the most recent episode of NXT, and Regal went “Ok, you can face Ember Moon.”  Now, I’ve heard of Ember Moon, otherwise known as Athena, but I don’t know much about her in-ring body of work.  And Billie Kay hasn’t given me a lot in her matches to be excited about.  I’m going with Ember Moon to win this here to continue the streak of debuting Superstars winning in their Takeover Debut.

Hang on a second…

There.  That’s better.  Roode is finally making his televised NXT debut.  And it’s going to be glorious.  The only thing that I don’t like about this is that they are essentially sacrificing Almas, who had a successful debut at Takeover: The End.  Sure, I don’t like the double knees in the corner to finish off an opponent, I am certainly looking forward to seeing what the flashier Almas is going to have to come up with to take on the stronger Roode.  With double the debuts, we’re going to get double the debut winners.  Bobby Roode is going to win, and it is going to be glorious.

There’s not going to be a whole lot of fun going into this match.  Sure, Jose is going to dance and groove his way into the ring, but once Aries arrives, and that bell sounds, this is going to be a very serious contest.  Jose is finally going to get his hands on The Greatest Man That Ever Lived after weeks of being avoided.  That being said, this is going to be a hard hitting match.  We’re going to see a lot more out of No Way Jose than we have so far.  Aries is going to make Jose work for every near-fall.  But, it’s not going to be quite enough.  I’m picking Austin Aries to win here, but it’s going to be pretty hard fought.  And maybe, we’ll get some more Aries dancing.

This match is going to be great! I’m saying that right now.  We’ve got the first two-time NXT Tag Team Champions (sorry Neville) in The Revival, who are an incredibly good tag team.  They are a rough and tumble tag team that will do whatever it takes to retain the titles.  Just take a look at their matches with American Alpha.  On the other hand, we’ve got Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa.  These two men have taken NXT by storm.  But, one of the storylines that I have a feeling that we are going to get going into this match is the 1st round match of the Cruiserweight Classic in which Gargano came out on top of Ciampa.  However, I think that these two can put their differences aside and unite to take on The Revival.  Again referring to the matches with American Alpha at the last two Takeovers, this is going to be a rocking awesome match. I really hope that The Revival gets a call up very soon.  I’m giving the win to The Revival, but I will not be disappointed if Gargano and Ciampa walk away new champs.

Oh goodness.  So much tension in this match.  Bayley is looking to become the 1st 2-time NXT Women’s Champion, while Asuka is looking to not only retain the title, but keep her undefeated streak intact (Asuka’s only televised loss came in the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal in January, but she’s never been pinned/submitted).  Comparing these two characters, Asuka is the figurative giant.  The Empress of Tomorrow is a very tough competitor and it’s really tough to find a weakness in the champs armor.  But, if there’s anyone that could find one, it’s Bayley.  Knowing Bayley, she’s going to do her homework.  This is the same woman that gave Nia Jax her first televised loss.  This is going to be an incredible, hard-hitting match.  But, I wonder if Bayley will finally get her chance on the main roster, and not just a tease like at Battleground.  Asuka will retain here, but we might finally get to see a glimpse of weakness in the champion.

First off, I made a tweet the other day when watching NXT, and watching the interaction between Joe and Nakamura.

Yeah.  Joe is angry.  Very, very angry.  And Nakamura is the target of the anger.  That and William Regal.  Regal made the match with Nakamura as the challenger.  And this is going to be intense.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t end up with some blood in this match from how hard the strikes will be.  Yet, there will be some finesse in this match.  Both of these men trained in the same dojo at one point in time.  So there will be a lot of similarities in their overall style.  This match may not be the best one on the card, but I have a feeling like it’s going leave the crowd in the Barclays Center on the edge of their seats.  Samoa Joe is going to walk out of Brooklyn still the NXT Champion, but Nakamura is going to make him work for it.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for you folks.

Now now.  Don’t be shy.  Let me know if my predictions are different than yours.  I’ll be back super soon for the next WWE/NXT Network Special preview.  Until next time, I am The Baumeister, and I am, as always, obediently yours.
