Theme Thursday #12: Entrance Themes Vol. 2

Musical-instruments

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am your host, the Baumeister. It’s Theme Thursday, where I take one a particular theme of my choosing and present it to you.  It could be based off a promotion, or a match type, or a gimmick group.  There’ll be my thoughts on the theme, as well as video clips that I’ve enjoyed.

This week’s theme: Entrance Themes Vol. 2

First off, I want to say that I apologize for skipping a number. Since my old macbook finally gave up the ghost midweek, I had to stop posting where I stopped, which was Katie Vick.  So, in order to not get discombobulated, we’re just going to pick up right along with #12. In this case, we’re going with the entrance themes that are currently on my playlist. Enjoy.

So, what did you think of this week’s theme? Have any themes you’d like to see featured here? Let me know in the comments.  Until next time, I am the Baumeister.

WTFebruary Theme Thursday #10: Kaiju Big Battel

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am your host, the Baumeister. It’s Theme Thursday, where I take one a particular theme of my choosing and present it to you.  It could be based off a promotion, or a match type, or a gimmick group.  There’ll be my thoughts on the theme, as well as video clips that I’ve enjoyed.

This is part of WTFebruary, a month in which the focus is solely on the strange, bizarre, and just plain bad of professional wrestling.

This week’s theme: Kaiju Big Battel

Some of you may have heard about this promotion…and some of may not have.  And that’s ok.  It’s kind of obscure.  Kaiju Big Battel is a promotion where pretty much every performer that competes in that ring (not all though) are monsters.  The ring is made up like a miniature city, to replicate the appearance that the performers are giant monsters fighting downtown.

I can’t remember when I first heard about Kaiju Big Battel, but once I learned where this promotion came from, I was intrigued.  Now, as many of you are aware, I am a big CHIKARA fan. And there for a little while, CHIKAR and Kaiji had a partnership.   That’s where we got the lights of Dr. Cube and American Beetle in a CHIKARA ring.  In fact, CHIKARA still uses Dr. Cube to this day when the opportunity arises (The Eye of Tyr, and a part of the Flood until he was un-cubed). Below are going to be some matches from Kaiju Big Battel.  Enjoy.

This week’s theme: Debuts Vol. 1

Well, everyone has to start somewhere.  And this is where it all starts.  We’re going to take a look at superstars debuts on camera, from any promotion, at any time frame. Note that these won’t all be a superstar’s rookie debut, but their first match for a company. Enjoy.

This week’s theme: Entrance Music #1

In our lovely world of professional wrestling, there are themes that are so iconic that if you hear them elsewhere, you immediately think that performer is going to be walking right into that room.  Ok, so that might be delusional thinking, and none of us think that, but we still at least can recognize those themes when we hear them away from the arenas or our television sets (or computers and so on and so forth).  Since this particular theme for Theme Thursday is going to be a series of its own, there will be three themes for each of these agreements.  Enjoy a brief break from all the matches.

This week’s theme: Gorilla and the Brain

Probably my all-time favorite announce team, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan had such incredible chemistry together.  Part of it could have to do with their friendship outside of the ring. Below will be some of their moments together, including their last on-camera moment together.

This week’s theme: Famous Wrestling Arenas

If you could use a TARDIS and go to any time and place to watch a wrestling event, where would you go? Would you use it to travel to somewhere modern, like the Tokyo Dome Egg or Madison Square Garden, for cards either past or present? Would you travel to times past to the heyday of the Dallas Sportatorium, Maple Leaf Gardens, or the Mid-South Coliseum? Below are some wrestling matches from some of the more famous arenas around the world.

Theme Thursday #4: Tribute to the Troops

It’s Theme Thursday, where I take one a particular theme of my choosing and present it to you.  It could be based off a promotion, or a match type, or a gimmick group.  There’ll be my thoughts on the theme, as well as video clips that I’ve enjoyed.

This week’s theme: Tribute to the Troops

Since 2003, WWE has dedicated one show out of the year exclusively for their support of the United States military forces.  Whether it was special edition episodes of RAW and Smackdown, or it’s own special event, WWE would go (up until 2010) to war zones in the Middle East, and perform a show for the deployed men and women.  And since the most recent edition of Tribute to the Troops just dropped last night, it’s only fitting that I too say thanks to all our men and women who serve our country every day in all corners of the world.  Below will be some matches from past events.  Enjoy.

This week’s theme: Battle Royals

Ah, to watch grown men throw each other over some rope-like structures and watch them sail through the air as they meet their impending fate of smacking onto the concrete/wood floor.  Battle Royals have been around for quite some time, and there always seems to be a new variation every once in a while (I’m looking at you TNA Reverse Battle Royal). Below are going to be various Battle Royals for your perusal.
